Genealogy Services
Research. Documentation. Analysis. These are the three primary keys needed to unlock your family history. As a genealogist with more than 40 years of research experience, I apply the documentation and analysis skills that I've developed during my military and civilian professional career to explore all facets of your genealogical questions. My goal is to provide you with the most thoroughly researched and comprehensive account of your family's history that the documentation will support.
I approach each genealogical challenge individually by putting together a custom research plan. Just as each family is different, there is no one-size-fits-all method for achieving results. I begin each project with a free consultation during which we will discuss your specific questions and goals, and an initial research plan with estimated cost will be developed. I work on an hourly rate of $25 per hour - and there is no "minimum" charge.
Veteran Research
Every veteran from every era - war time or peace time - deserves to have their service memorialized and remembered. I specialize in bringing together the service history of our veterans using available personnel documents as well as unit and assignment histories, which I present in the context of the time period that they served. I also help veterans and their immediate families obtain replacement medals and copies of their service records. Contact me...
Family Tree Research
Whether you're just beginning your family history journey or are tackling a particularly difficult research problem, I'm here to help! During your initial (and free!) consultation, I'll work with you to develop a targeted research plan with a clear goal. My research will be conducted using all available primary and compiled sources available. Each find will be analyzed for relevance, and together all information will be brought together to not only identify your ancestral lines but also to paint a picture of your family's life in the context of the times and location in which they lived. Document Retrieval
I can assist you in your own research if you need to obtain a copy of a record from a repository in my area, or if you require an in-person researcher to examine locally-held, non-digitized records. I am able to visit a variety of locations throughout mid-Michigan, as well as the Archives of Michigan and can provide physical and/or digital copies of requested records. Contact me...
COVID-19 Notice
Due to COVID-19 restrictions in place at many repositories and archives, in-person research and retrieval services may be limited or not permitted. This may impact my ability to complete my research to the fullest extent possible. Any potential impact will be disclosed during our consultation and goal-setting process.
